高金利環境が経済に悪影響を与えるのではないかという懸念から、投資家は手元の米国資産を売っている。また、米連邦準備制度理事会（FRB）が重視するインフレ指標であるPCE価格指数の発表が間もなく予定されており、これもリスク回避を促す要因となっている。このため米ドルの需要が高まり、金に代わる安全資産となっている。 

さらに、米連邦準備制度理事会（FRB）高官によるタカ派的な発言は、米国株式市場の下落をさらに加速させた。複数のFRB理事が、利下げに踏み切るにはインフレ率が大幅に低下する必要があると指摘した。現在、米国のインフレ率は3.36％で、依然としてFRBが目指す2％は大きく上回っている。
